Unique

  Features:

Many children begin music lessons by age 6, but very few receive the comprehensive training unique to Yamaha classes.
EAR TRAINING:
Learning to not only read music, but to also hear and play music is a wonderful tool for all musicians.  Whether memorizing difficult classical music, improvising with jazz musicians, or creating an arrangement with singers or other musical instruments, Yamaha students are trained to use their ear as well as their eye and musical knowledge to be more versatile.
CREATING:
Young Musicians Course students are taught to create their own music through:
  • variations
  • chord patterns
  • arrangements
  • improvisation
  • composition
They learn from and are motivated by each other in the group setting.

Parent participation: Parents are not required to

attend class regularly with their child.  However,       students do best when their parents are involved        by attending some lessons, becoming familiar           with the goals of the course and learning how      to support their child's study at home.

Instrument:  All students must have a keyboard  instrument, that is in tune, and sits

properly for good posture and hand positions.

YOUNG MUSICIANS COURSE is founded on the belief  that every child loves music.  This outstanding musicianship course offered by our trained Yamaha staff, provides your child with a well-rounded musical environment that will prepare them to successfully launch into advanced piano, singing, or instrumental training.  Children participate in activities that teach basic musical skills and encourage independence, creativity and self-expression.

Course Materials

Young Musicians Course includes full-color textbooks and fully orchestrated CDs for six different levels.  In class, students play along with the teacher's live performances, as well as with pre-recorded accompaniments on diskettes and CDs.  At home, students are taught to play with a metronome and their CD, giving these students an excellent sense of rhythm and success from the start.

High Technology Instruments

The programmable electronic keyboards in the classroom give your child an incredible variety of sounds ranging from the classical violin to the modern electric guitar. Whether performing solo or as part of an ensemble, children love the sophisticated music right from the start. This acts as a powerful motivator to learn and create on their own.

Performing
Performing introduces children to the joy of expressing music. YMC students are given many outlets for performing, both in and out of class, which makes it easier for them to share their music in many different styles and settings.  Our students perform for each other in the comfort of their classes, as well as choose to perform in extra events, such as piano competitions, composition concerts, public performances that we arrange, and their own school, family or church functions.

Upon completion of the Course

Once your child has completed the Young Musicians Course, they can continue to the Junior Advanced Course continuing to grow in a group setting with private lessons included.  As the students develop more advanced musical skills, they are also encouraged to express themselves by performing and composing their own music through programs like Junior Original Concert.
